Mercedes-Benz has revealed a pair of new camping concepts built around its new X-Class double-cab bakkie.
The first features a demountable cabin courtesy of the folks over at Tischer while the second boasts an integrated kitchen system from VanEssa Mobilcamping. The Stuttgart-based brand says these two solutions offer avid campers both off-road capability and a “living area with all vital essentials”.
Mercedes says the demountable cabin on the first concept offers a “comfortable sleeping system in an alcove 150 cm wide”, headroom of almost two metres, a kitchen with a three-burner gas stove and three “cosy seats”. The latter can furthermore be converted into a second bed.
The integrated bathroom, meanwhile, features a fold-away wash basin and swivelling toilet unit and even offers what Mercedes-Benz describes as “enough space to take a shower”.
The second concept uses a heavy-duty pull-out module (weighing around 250 kg) with a fully equipped kitchen, including features such as a coolbox, cooking and washing-up facilities and space for crockery and supplies. A second pull-out module offers even more space for further items.
VanEssa protected the load compartment with a cover fashioned from yacht-deck-look teak wood, while pneumatic struts allow the cover to be propped up at an angle of 45 degrees. For trips over several days, VanEssa advises the fitting of a roof tent with rear-facing entrance.
