Mini has given its Countryman a John Cooper Works performance boost and is preparing to debut this sixth JCW model at Geneva next week.
Under the bonnet lies a newly developed 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine with twin-scroll turbocharger, petrol direct injection and variable valve control. Maximum power is 160 kW, while torque is 280 N.m and 300 N.m with overboost. This vehicle features Mini’s All4 all-wheel drive system and is available with the optional six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance numbers are as follows: It takes the Countryman JCW seven seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h before registering a top speed of 225 km/h. Mini claims fuel consumption in the manual version at 7,2 litres/100 km with vehicle has an emissions figure of 167 g/km.
The Countryman JCW features an aerodynamic kit, sports suspension, sports exhaust system, 18-inch light-alloy wheels, DSC stability control with DTC as standard. Optional extras include exclusive Chili Red contrasting paintwork for the roof and exterior mirrors, and 19-inch light-alloy wheels. Inside you’ll find sports seats, a sports steering wheel and model-specific display and controls. No indication yet as to whether a Dani Sordo-inspired replica bucket seat, from Mini’s so-far very successful 2012 WRC entry will make the options list.
Europe will get the Countryman JCW later this year.
