The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been gracing, or should we say bouldering, our roads for a few years already and the current model is due for some updates. However, the Fiat-Chrysler group – parent company of Jeep – announced that the redesign of the Grand Cherokee will be pushed back toward the latter part of the decade.
A new Jeep Grand Cherokee would have seen the light in 2017, 2018, but according to Mike Manley, Jeep CEO, the new model will only arrive in early 2019.
The current Jeep Grand Cherokee was unveiled in 2009 and went on sale in 2010. Though its platform was, and still is, rather old, the Grand Cherokee is still one of Jeep’s finest, and best-selling, models to date.
This shift in dates for the Jeep Grand Cherokee does not seem to have an effect on other Jeep models. Plans for the new Jeep Wagoneer – a model Jeep hopes will take the fight to luxurious Range Rover – and the upcoming Jeep Wrangler are still on track.
