Porsche recently took the covers off its Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the world seemed quite impressed with its 340 kW power output. But now the high-end German performance manufacturer has taken its luxury saloon one step further and added this hybrid system to its Turbo S variant.
And, this hybrid tech in conjunction with the turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 allows the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid to serve up a whopping 500 kW and 850 N.m of torque. The results are a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3,4 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.
Power is delivered to all four wheels through the brand’s eight-speed PDK transmission, while an electric clutch actuator services the 100 kW electric motors. Air suspension is a standard feature on this model.
From an economy point of view, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid boasts a claimed average fuel consumption of just 2,9 L/100 km and can run in EV mode for up to 50 km. The battery, meanwhile, can be fully recharged in a claimed 2,4 hours.
The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will debut in Geneva in March, before being launched globally in the second quarter of this year … with ceramic composite brakes, dynamic chassis control, torque vectoring and progressive steering as standard equipment.
Germans will be paying around R2,5-million for this super saloon, while local pricing has yet to be announced.
