You can accuse French-manufactured cars of many things, but being ugly is certainly not one of them. The current Renault Mégane is a looker as so too is its successor, which was unveiled today.
The all-new Mégane is set for launch next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but these images have been released to give fans of La Regie something to cheer about.
Distinctive lamps front and rear
The C-shaped headlamps are distinctive as they continue into the upper section of the bumper. These frame a large air intake with a bold Renault badge taking pride of place.
The taillamps are also striking in that they start on the rear haunches and continue inwards until almost meeting in the middle of the bootlid.
New proportions
The front end has been lowered by 25 mm, and the track widths widened by 47 mm and 39 mm fore and aft compared with Mégane 3. Not only does the New Mégane sit squarely on the road – its wheelbase is 28 mm longer than before.
Chromed elements emphasise the top of the belt line and enhance the grille, the side badges and door handles.
In his own words
“In the highly competitive market of compact saloons, it was vital that New Mégane should stand out right from the first glance”, says exterior designer Franck Le Gall.
“The precise, taut lines, which draw the whole design towards the front, are part of the side surfaces. In combination with the sculpted shoulders, these lines give New Mégane dynamism and character.”
