Audiophiles, rejoice! Volkswagen South Africa has confirmed that the special edition VW Polo Beats will be launched locally later this year.
The special Polo features a 300-watt eight-channel amplifier in its premium sound system, equipped with a digital signal processor.
Seven high-end loudspeakers are scattered around the vehicle’s interior: two tweeters in the A-pillars, two woofers in the front doors, two broadband loudspeakers in the back, and a subwoofer integrated in the spare wheel well.
The kit comes courtesy of American audio specialist Beats Electronics, a company founded in 2008 by Dr. Dre. In 2014, the California-based firm was scooped up by Apple.
The Volkswagen Polo Beats – which is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in August 2016 – also benefits from a handful of exclusive exterior updates, including new 16-inch “Syenite” high-sheen alloy wheels finished in black or white.
Furthermore, the side-mirrors are painted in a contrasting colour, and Beats-specific decals are applied along the sides. A glossy black radiator grille is also added to the exterior styling mix.
Inside, the Polo Beats features sports seats and door trim panels in the “Beats” design, along with coloured seat-belts and a leather steering wheel.
Local pricing has yet to be announced, although the model comes in at €15 975 (around R273 000) in Europe.
