When the all-new Subaru WRX and WRX STI debuted, their styling did not have too much in common with the WRX Concept (pictured).
It now appears that Subaru plans on implementing styling elements from the WRX Concept on the next-generation Impreza. When the Impreza launches in 2016, it will feature design cues from the Concept, with the WRX that follows also set on benefiting from the Concept’s styling.
“Yes, we have taken the next-generation Impreza’s design in a new direction that we are sure will excite the marketplace,” says Subaru chief designer Mamoru Ishii. “Some of the study’s key proportions will transfer to the next WRX as well.”
The next-generation Impreza will feature a bolder lower body, similar to that of the WRX Concept.
Subaru plans on implementing its new modular chassis architecture (Subaru Global Platform) on its entire model line-up starting from 2016, with the Impreza the first model to receive the new design.
