The new Opel Corsa has been launched in South Africa. It comes only three-and-half months after we drove the car at its international launch in Germany.
Although a 1,4-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine will become available later, the model will be introduced with the company’s 1,0-litre, turbocharged, Ecoflex, three-cylinder engine. This is the same unit as found in the compact Opel Adam.
The car will be offered with three trim levels: Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo. The Essentia offers, stop/start technology, halogen daytime running lights, 15-inch steel wheels and a single-piece folding rear seat to name a few.
However, two option packs can also be specified. Option Pack 1 offers air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, USB and aux connections as well as steering wheel controls. Option Pack 2 offers 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning and IntelliLink. The Enjoy trim level is also available with two options packs.
The top of the range Cosmo offers features such as cruise control, bi-xenon headlights, interior ambient lightning, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights. The Option Pack 1 add side blind spot alert, advanced park assist 2 and front and rear parking sensors.
All pricing includes a 5-year/120 000 warranty and 3-year/60 000 km service plan.
