Peugeot South Africa has released details of its updated 3008. This includes changes to the exterior, interior as well as the drivetrains.
The front of the car features a totally new design to bring it in line with newer Peugeot models such as the 508 sedan and 208 hatchback. The new headlights also bring day-time running lights to the party.
On the inside, Peugeot has updated the fabrics and used “smarter finishes”. The head-up display unit (which still features a pop-up screen) of the Allure derivative now features colour graphics for the first time. As before, the 3008 features several storage compartments for the ultimate level of practicality and versatility.
The range now consists of three models, Access, Active and Allure. Between these models, Peugeot offers three specification models and three drivetrain options.
The new entry-level model is the 1,6-litre VTi Access. This well-known engine produces 88 kW at 6 000 r/min and 160 N.m at 4 250 r/min. Claimed fuel consumption is 6,7 litres/100 km. According to Peugeot, this model will become available in April.
Next up is the 1,6 THP Active (watch our long-term test report of this pre-facelift vehicle here). A higher standard specification level adds to the turbocharged 115 kW/240 N.m engine. The 2,0-litre HDi, turbodiesel engine tops the range with 120 kW/340 N.m.
Six airbags contribute to the five-star EuroNCAP safety rating of the 3008 and all models come with Peugeot’s 5-year/100 000 km maintenance plan.
