Peugeot has revealed the new 5008, and it’s no longer a chunky MPV. Instead, the French automaker has transformed the second-generation model into a fully fledged seven-seater SUV.
While the new Peugeot 5008 will make its world premiere at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, don’t expect to see it on South African roads. Why? Well, Peugeot SA has confirmed that there are no plans to bring it in “at the moment”.
The new model boasts a wheelbase of 2,84 metres and an overall length of 4,64 metres (some 11 cm longer than the original 5008). It features three separate folding seats in the second row as well as two removable folding perches in the third row. Boot capacity, meanwhile, is a claimed 780 dm3.
The new model runs on the automaker’s Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) underpinnings, which it shares with the likes of the 308 and new 3008 (it also borrows plenty of design cues from the latter). Four petrol and six diesel powertrains will be offered.
