Hyundai Automotive SA has launched the new Creta light crossover in South Africa, finally (officially) revealing local pricing for the three-model range.
The local line-up is positioned below the Tucson range and kicks off with the 1,6 Executive model (R319 900), which is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. This naturally aspirated petrol engine is worth 90 kW and 154 N.m, and can also be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission (which forms the second variant in the local range, priced at R339 900).
The range-topper, meanwhile, comes in the form of a 1,6-litre turbodiesel, mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic ‘box. This oil-burner provides the front wheels with 94 kW and 260 N.m, and is priced at R369 900. For the record, the Tucson range starts at R379 900 and stretches through to R534 900.
Key features include an infotainment system (with navigation), six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors (with a reversing camera) and keyless entry.
Of course, we’ve already tested the flagship Creta (pick up a copy of our March issue to read the full road test). In addition, an example of this diesel model has just joined our long-term fleet, with its introduction set down for the upcoming April issue.
