The 2002 Auto Africa Expo will be following a different format to previous years, with the public now having two additional days to visit the exhibition.
Due to greater demand from exhibitors and the public, the show, which runs from October 21-27 next year at the National Exhibition Centre in Johannesburg, will be open to the public from October 23.
The CAR and CARtoday.com Conference will take place on October 22.
The 2002 event promises even more interest for both the trade and the public, with greater participation by overseas exhibitors and more foreign trade visitors. There will also be a greater number of local exhibitors, which has resulted in the organisers increasing the exhibition space from two to three halls for passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles. New model introductions and a peep at the future of motoring through some of the latest concept vehicles are bound to prove a major drawcard in these halls.
The other key sectors of the industry – components, garage and collision repair equipment and heavy trucks – will also have dedicated facilities, which will enable them to stage focused exhibitions and events aimed at their specific trade audiences.
The CAR Conference remains an important part of the show. It is the definitive forum for discussing the way ahead for South Africa’s motor industry. The focus for the 2002 event will be on passenger car sales. The conference will once again be chaired by Brand Pretorius, chief executive of McCarthy Retail and president of the Retail Motor Industry organisation.
A number of other important industry events, including conferences, seminars, workshops and the presentation of industry specific awards will also be part of the programme.
Off-road and driving-skills events, and demonstrations that invite public participation, are also bound to prove highly popular.
