In February, Mercedes-Benz took the wraps off its facelifted C-Class. And now the German brand has revealed its updated C43 sedan, which gains styling tweaks and more power.
Thanks to yet more tinkering (primarily via the addition of larger turbochargers) from the folks over at Affalterbach, the 3,0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine now delivers 287 kW (up 17 kW from the 270 kW in the pre-facelift model) and an unchanged 520 N.m.
Interestingly, this maximum torque figure is offered between 2 500 and 5 000 r/min, whereas the outgoing model made its peak twisting force between 2 000 and 4 200 r/min. The Mercedes-AMG C43’s claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time is still 4,7 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
As before, the C43 employs the Stuttgart-based brand’s rear-biased 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, along with an AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission. A new, fifth driving mode called “Slippery” has also been added, and is specially programmed for slippery or snow-covered road conditions.
In terms of styling, the updated C43 gains the latest version of the AMG radiator grille with twin-louvre design in matte iridium silver along with a new front apron with additional “flics”. Round back, you’ll notice that a quartet of round tailpipes (in high-gloss chrome) replace the previous model’s angular elements. The rear apron has also been redesigned and a more aggressive diffuser adopted. New, “aerodynamically optimised” AMG light-alloy wheels have also been added.
Inside, a fully digital instrument cluster with 12,3-inch screen can be optionally specified. Mercedes-AMG has also added new steering wheel designs, complete with so-called “touch control” buttons first seen in the E-Class.
