Renault South Africa has expanded its local Duster range, adding a dual-clutch version of the diesel-powered, front-wheel-drive derivative. The newcomer is set to go on sale in mid-August.
The 1,5 dCi engine, which makes 80 kW and 240 N.m in the manual model, can now be mated to the French automaker’s EDC transmission, and gains an extra 10 N.m in the process.
This six-speed dual-clutch transmission – which cannot be had in the all-wheel-drive variant – results in a claimed consumption figure of 4,8 L/100 km (the same as the manual model), with CO2 emissions coming in at 126 g/km.
As with the rest of the Duster range, standard safety equipment includes ABS with EBD as well as four airbags. The new EDC-equipped derivative (along with the range-topping 4×4 model) furthermore features ESP with traction control.
All models come with a five-year/150 000 km warranty and three-year/45 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km) as standard. Metallic paint will cost you an extra R2 500, while optional leather seats come in at R10 000.
