Toyota has revealed its new 2016 Land Cruiser 200, its most luxurious SUV offering. As can be seen in the pictures, the 200 gains a redesigned face, with new LED headlights. At the rear slight tweaks have also been made, including redesigned LED taillights.
Move to the inside, and the cabin’s basic layout remains, although some buttons have been rearranged. The new steering wheel features even more satellite buttons, while on the centre console the size of the infotainment screen has also grown in size. However, this size of this screen is set to be specific to certain models. Both a 4,2-inch and a 9-inch screen will be offered.
In South Africa the current range offered the 4,6-litre, V8 petrol engine and the 4,5-litre turbodiesel engine. This offering is set to continue with the new range. A few updates to the diesel engine, including new injectors and mapping, have resulted in an increase of 5 kW. Torque delivery has remained unchanged though.
The petrol engine’s delivery of 227 kW and 439 N.m remains the same. However, it has received a revised air-injection system, and now also passes Euro 5 regulations.
It is reported that the Land Cruiser is already available in Japan, and will be heading to Australia by October. Expect the new model to arrive in South Africa by latest in the first quarter of next year.
