It is a well known fact that Porsche wants to offer the sportiest car in each segment they sell cars, and their latest addition adds to this mission.
The GTS badge has been added to a few iconic Porsches over the years, but more recently it has been added to almost the entire range, from the Panamera and Cayman, to the 911 and Cayenne. Now Porsche has also added it to its smallest SUV, the Macan.
As the pictures illustrate, the GTS receives some exterior updates, including new wheels. Move to the inside, and Porsche has used Alcantara for the sport seats, centre- and door armrests.
Sending torque to all four wheels the twin-turbo, 3,0-litre, V6 engine that delivers 268 kW and 500 N.m. Connected to Porsche’s seven-speed PDK transmission, the claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4,8 seconds, followed by a top speed of 256 km/h.
The braking system has also been upgraded, featuring 360 mm discs up front and 330 mm at the rear. Surprisingly, the ride height is actually 10-15 mm lower than the more powerful Macan Turbo.
Although no local pricing have been revealed, expect the GTS to slot in between the R904 000 Macan S and the R1 275 000 Macan Turbo.
The Macan GTS will be introduced towards the second quarter of 2016.
