Rumours of Toyota reviving the Supra nameplate have again picked up pace, this time after the Japanese automaker trademarked the moniker in Europe.
New reports show Toyota filed the application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office at the start of June 2016, more than two years after registering the nameplate with the equivalent authority in the United States.
This latest move has re-ignited speculation that the sports car currently being developed by Toyota in conjunction with BMW – and expected to reach production by 2018 – will wear the iconic badge.
Toyota, of course, provided a possible preview of this model at the Detroit Motor Show back in January 2014, when it unveiled the front-engine, rear-wheel drive FT-1 concept pictured above.
