The battle for the title of South Africa’s best-selling bakkie continues apace. So, what happened in August?
We’ve already reported that new vehicle sales in South Africa fell some 9,5% to 46 146 units in August 2016 (year-on-year).
And we’ve also taken a look at the individual figures released by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), picking out the 10 best-selling passenger cars for the month (and the 12 worst-sellers, too).
Now, we’re turning our attention to the light commercial segment, and have identified the 10 best-selling bakkies of August 2016.
The Toyota Hilux maintained its positioned ahead of the second-placed Ford Ranger in August, securing an 844-unit lead (just four units down on last month’s gap). The Isuzu KB, meanwhile, easily retained third spot.
The Nissan NP200 climbed one place to fourth, pushing its only true rival – the Chevrolet Utility – down one to fifth. The Nissan NP300 held steady in sixth, with the Volkswagen Amarok maintaining seventh ahead of the Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up (which remained in eighth).
The Mazda BT-50 returned to the table to grab ninth, while the Mahindra Bolero also made a comeback to snaffle the final spot. That means there’s no space for the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-Up (47), Fiat Fullback (26) or Mitsubishi Triton (3).
See the top ten list below, and have a look at July’s figures here.
