We’ve already reported that new vehicle sales in South Africa fell some 9,2% to 40 390 units in April 2016.
But now we’ve taken a closer look at the individual figures released by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), and picked out the ten best-selling passenger vehicles for the month.
Of course, one must bear in mind that certain importers – such as Hyundai and Kia – do not submit individual model sales figures, instead only disclosing aggregate sales stats. Mercedes-Benz, too, has taken a similar stance.
In April, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo sits atop the table, with the regular Polo following in second place.
Toyota South Africa Motors reports an overall figure for the Corolla, Auris, and Corolla Quest, and this number takes third place ahead of the Ford EcoSport.
The new Toyota Fortuner, meanwhile, grabs a strong fifth place, with the Etios following in sixth. The Ford Figo and Fiesta take seventh and eighth respectively, while the BMW 3 Series slots into ninth. The Renault Clio closes out the table in tenth.
