Mercedes-Benz is in the process of slowly expanding its AMG GT range. Originally, the company launched the standard GT and the GT S, but more models were planned all along.
In fact, the more focused, higher-powered Mercedes-AMG GT R was the next to be revealed, and will be launched mid- to late-2017.
But more spy pictures have now surfaced of the Roadster version. As expected, the newcomer looks almost identical to the coupé, except around the rear half of the car.
Here it is obvious that the car is ever-so-slightly bulkier in order to allow the stowage of the roof when it is folded down.
The Roadster is likely to offer the same engine output as the coupé, which means 340 kW/600 N.m for the base model and 375 kW/650 N.m for the more powerful derivative. However, according to a leaked document, the official name could end up being the GT C Roadster.
Expect the Roadster to be released in the first half of 2017.
