Mazda has released a teaser image of an “all-new” CX-5, despite the fact that the current model has been on the market for just four years.
The first-generation CX-5 hit the global market in 2012, with sales reaching the one-million-mark last year. But the Hiroshima-based automaker is already readying a new CX-5, which is likely to be released as a 2017 model.
And it’s this latest version of the compact SUV that will be revealed at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show on 16 November, with the Japanese automaker claiming it has taken the CX-5’s exterior styling “to a new level, honing the car’s beauty and imparting a formidable combination of sophistication and strength”.
It also says it has added new technology to “deliver new dimensions of driving joy”. We’re guessing this includes the brand’s G-Vectoring Control system.
Although the teaser image (which we’ve brightened up a bit) doesn’t give much away, it does look as though the next-generation CX-5 has a stretched bonnet and shorter rear overhang, bringing its proportions in line with the smaller CX-3.
But we’ll have to wait until its LA reveal to know for sure…
