The Toyota Supra is an iconic Japanese sportscar that has become rather popular on the tuner scene. Thanks to its near-indestructible 2 JZ-GTE twin-turbo straight-six engine, it’s a car that can be pushed to almost unbelievable limits.
But back in 2006, Japanese tuner Smokey Nagata of Top Secret thought it would be worthwhile to take that mill out and replace it with a 1 GZ-FE 5,0-litre V12 sourced from a Toyota Century. And now that car has come up for auction.
Of course, Top Secret didn’t stop at an engine transplant. Before lowering the 12-cylinder into the Supra, it fitted more robust pistons, connecting rods, an uprated set of turbochargers and a F-CON Vpro engine management system. Add shot of nitrous oxide and you get some 694 kW sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. This helped it achieve a top speed of 358,22 km/h in sixth gear at 7 300 r/min.
Interestingly, the Top Secret Supra doesn’t really look like a Supra. That’s because the tuning company fitted a unique in-house body kit that it called the Super G-Force. And then there’s that over-the-top gold paint…
The Top Secret Toyota Supra will go under the hammer at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2018 in January, thanks to BH Auctions.
