Volkswagen South Africa showcased a host of new technologies at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show. VWSA’s focus is on innovation and the company has the new Golf BlueMotion and iBeetle on its stand.
The Golf BlueMotion is powered by a 2,0-litre direct-injection turbo diesel engine with 81 kW. It has a claimed fuel consumption of 3,2l/100 km and CO2 emissions value of 85g/km.
According to VW, The iBeetle is a special edition that is based on a full integration of the iPhone into the Beetle. The vehicle makes use of a specially developed docking station and app called Volkswagen Car-Net The Beetle to communicate with the car and exchange data back and forth.
Other highlights on the stand include no fewer than 18 display vehicles, a special-edition Scirocco GTS and a high-tech concept car that provides a look at VW’s future plans. There are also interactive displays that show alternative mobility, Think Blue touch tables, Think Blue Photo Booth and Dynaudio Soundball.
For those who want to see the company’s outdoor offerings, there are Touareg and Amarok double-cab models at the show’s 4×4 track.
