Following teaser images last week Volkswagen has decided to take the wraps off of its forthcoming facelifted Amarok. While the cosmetic changes are in line with the images we have seen before, the addition, in certain markets, of a 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel option is noteworthy. As such, the introduction of this engine option is still being considered by VWSA.
On sale in markets including the United Kingdom from September, the new Euro 6 compliant TDI unit will be available in three different outputs (120 kW, 150 kW and 165 kW) all with the same torque figure of 551 N.m. All models will be equipped with 4Motion while a choice of either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission is offered
Optional extras on Amarok include a 14-way adjustable drivers seat and an upgraded Climatronic ventilation system. A new twenty-inch wheel design, together with the latest-generation VW infotainment system is also available. Safety features now include post-collision braking, stability control, parking sensors and a reverse camera.
Volkswagen South Africa has yet to confirm whether the new V6 TDI engine option will be included once the facelifted Amarok reaches our shores during the second half of 2017.
