Volkswagen of Southern Africa has just announced the updated Scirocco line-up, which includes GTS specification to the more powerful 2,0 TSI model.
The range starts with a 2,0 TSI engine with 132 kW and 280 N.m of torque, which replaces the outgoing 118 kW 1,4 TSI, and the range-topper remains the 188 kW Scirocco R, but the big news is that the previous 2,0 TSI model with 155 kW has now been fitted with the 162 kW engine from the Golf GTI, as well as exclusive GTS touches to the exterior and cabin.
The 2,0 TSI Scirocco GTS is also fitted with a six-speed clutch transmission that allows for a zero to 100 km/h sprint of 6,9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 246 km/h. VW claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 6,4 litres/100 km, and 148 g/km of CO2 emission.
The Scirocco GTS boasts the R-Line package, which includes 18-inch “Norwich” alloys, custom side sills, R-style front bumper (with integrated fog lamps, gloss-black grille and intake vents), R style roof spoiler and rear diffuser. Inspired by the original GTS, which debuted on the second generation Scirocco in 1982, the new GTS can also be ordered with a model exclusive decal that consists of two red stripes running over the bonnet, roof, and boot. GTS logos can also be found on the grille and tailgate.
Inside, the Scirocco GTS boasts logos on the sill plates, stainless steel pedals, model-specific steering wheel, golf ball style gear knob, chrome trim package, Composition Media infotainment system and contrasting red seams for the safety belts, handbrake lever, gear lever gait, and floor mats. Optional extras include a panoramic sunroof with tilt function, keyless entry, PDC, 19-inch alloys and bi-xenon headlamps.
