Powered by a 5,0-litre Mustang-sourced four-barrel Holley carburettor-fed V8 engine, the Sierra XR-8 is another one of those locally developed muscle cars that are now picking up in value. As always, finding a good one is not easy. Back in the day the Sierra XR-8 cost R27 500 (as tested), and it recorded a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6,96 seconds on the way to a 231 km/h top speed. It was the fastest production Sierra in the world at the time (eclipsing the Euro-spec XR-4i with its 2,8-litre V6).
