Long before the letters OPC became synonymous with Opel’s hottest hatches, and even before the mighty Superboss came to be, the Kadett GTE was the marque’s halo hatch. CAR tested one in August 1984.
Weighing just 1 005 kilograms and powered by an 85 kW 1,8-litre four-cylinder engine (producing 151 N.m of torque), the Kadett GTE managed a zero to 100 km/h sprint in just 9,72 seconds and went on to a top speed of 192 km/h.
