Seat covers

By: CAR magazine

I recently bought a 2008 VW Touran and wanted to fit seat covers, but noticed an airbag tag on the side of the front seats. Does this mean that there are air bags at the side, and that the covers will prevent the airbags from deploying?

Side air bags are either on the side pillar or at the side of the seat. Some cars have both. The upper airbag protects in the case of a roll-over, and the lower protects in case of a side impact.

The seat covers may well prevent the airbags from deploying properly, and should therefore not be fitted.
