The seventh annual Jaguar Simola Hillclimb will be taking place in Knysna this weekend from the 6th to the 8th of May.
For those of you who don’t know it, the Simola Hillclimb is arguably the biggest motoring even in the South African motorsport calendar as competitors race their personal high octane machines up a 1,9 km stretch of mountain round. This year is said to be its biggest yet with close to 140 racing entries and 15 000 spectators to fill the 48 marquees and 1 230 m2 of decking.
Every year Jaguar hosts a media competition at the hillclimb in which five of the fastest journalists get to compete in a performance index based competition (most consistent time). This year Jaguar thought it would be best to hold a karting challenge in which the four fastest drivers as well as the previous year’s hillclimb winner would get to compete in the 2016 media challenge.
After earning third place in a very tight challenge, our very own Nikesh Kooverjee will be representing Car Magazine at this year’s media competition. He’ll be driving the red Jaguar XE R-Sport with our own livery pictured above alongside four other journalists from South African publications.
You can follow him on Twitter to stay up to date with his progress throughout the competition.
