If you own an Xbox One and can’t really wait for Gran Turismo Sport to get underway then the developers at Turn 10 will be kicking off their eSports championship on the Forza Motorsport 6 platform on Monday. It will feature two separate series and provide an opportunity to win several prizes.
The Forza RC will consist of an Elite and Open series to cater for both novice and experienced players respectively. Both of these series will follow different paths, make use of different modes and have different prizes. The series is not invitational, which means everyone who owns the game is allowed to participate.
Those racing in the Elite series will make use of a Rivals qualifier, which will provide the seeding for the weekly tournament to be run by the eSports League. The top 16 racers of this qualifier will compete against one another in a showdown that will be live-streamed on the Forza Motorsport Twitch channel every Sunday.
The top four racers will then move on to the Elite Series Grand Final, broadcast live as well. The winner of this will drive home in a brand new Ford Focus RS. Winners of the qualifiers will take home a variety of prizes, including Xbox One S consoles, Xbox Elite controllers and Logitech wheels. Everyone who posts a time in the qualifier will receive the in-game 1973 Ford Escort 1600.
The Open Series works slightly differently. It will run on the same weekly timetable but will group racers according to skill rather than time. Despite being an open invitation, in order to be eligible for this event, players have to make sure they meet the requirements listed on the ESL’s ForzaRC site. Prizes in this league include DLC packs. The bonus car for this league is the 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO.
If you think you have what it takes to compete in these leagues, you can register here.
