Well known Hong Kong born action movie star Jackie Chan has just become a founding partner of what was once BAXI DC Racing; a team that saw great success during last year’s Asian Le Mans season while making use of a Ligier JS P3. With funding being granted by Chan and the successful season seen by the team last year, BAXI has announced that it will be part of the 60 car grid set to compete in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The drivers confirmed thus far for the race are Ho-Pin Tung and team co-owner David Cheng who managed to claim all four wins in the Asian Le Mans last year along side France’s Thomas Laurent. The team name has also been changed from BAXI DC to Sparkle Roll Group-Jackie Chan DC Racing and will make use of an Apline A460 Nissan LMP2.
Chan is a well known actor who needs no introduction but very few people know about his petrolhead personality. Something that can be seen in his hit 1995 film Thunderbolt. Chan saw great potential in the teams performance last year and credits his ownership as a good way to support Chinese motorsport.
