Following the team’s decision to run Steve Mearns in this weekend’s www.motorpics.co.za Mountain Trial, Castrol Toyota Media Rally Champions Motorsport Africa have slotted young Cirian Nunan into the hot seat of the Toyota Financial Services/Halfway Toyota Tazz. –
– The experienced Nunan will replace the team’s veteran navigator, Steve Grobbelaar alongside Mearns on his rally debut in Motorsport’s Africa Junior Team running in the Castrol Toyota Media Rally Challenge. The team, which dominated the Challenge last year, has had a difficult run so far this year and has little chance of retaining the title, so it’s decided to face a new challenge for the rest of this season with a young crew. –
– “I’m really looking forward to the weekend, although our plan is first to finish rather than finish first,” Mearns admitted, while Nunan was also looking forward to the opportunity. “It’s an honour to be drafted in to the team of the place of Steve Grobbelaar – we’re going to give it our all and we hope for the best result for the team,” he confirmed. –
– The Castrol Toyota Media Rally Challenge is run between three teams from Topcar, Wiel and Motorsport Africa magazines in Class A5 of the SA Rally Championship. Motorsport Africa is published back to back with Cars in Action and is currently giving away a Tazz as reward for its winning the title last season – the latest issue is on sale this week. –
– The challenging www.motorpics.co.za Mountain Trial takes place on Saturday around the Eastern Cape town of Aliwal North and should prove a daunting debut for the young Motorsport Africa Junior Team. –
