The Chevrolet Miray Concept is one of the most exciting concepts, especially in terms of design and looks, at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS). It was first shown at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show and was developed at General Motors’s Advanced Design Studio in Seoul.
Highlights include wedge-shaped panels at the side made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP), scissor-type doors and carbon-fibre spoilers at the front corners of the car for optimal airflow to aid downforce.
The wheels are a combination of aluminium and carbon-fibre with measurements of 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the rear.
Propulsion
Up front there are two 15 kW electric motors powering the front wheels, delivered from a 1,6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is charged by a regenerative braking system.
Should the driver feel like exploring the Miray’s performance abilities, a 1,5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, situated behind the cockpit, powers the rear wheels.
According to Chevrolet, the “Miray Concept points to the future of Chevrolet as an expressive, youthful, and entertaining brand”.
