CAR magazine deputy editor Mike Fourie recently attended Shell V-Power Fuels’ Journey from Lab to Track experience in Germany and Belgium. This 90-second highlights clip details of his visit to the Shell Technology Centre in Hamburg, with commentary from John Lambert, Shell Technology manager for fuels implementation, as well as Mike Evans – Shell’s Formula One Fuels Project Leader who’s been pivotal in the Scuderia’s grand prix exploits since 1999. The trip also encompassed being a passenger to Ferrari test driver and former Le Mans winner Marc Gene at the wheel of a Ferrari FF and a visit to the Belgian Grand Prix, where Shell had set up its roving Track Laboratory – a facility that tests, inter alia, the purity of the Shell racing fuel in Alonso and Massa’s cars at every F1 race.
