With the revised Ford Ranger launching in South Africa this week and the arrival of the all-new Toyota Hilux imminent it’s easy to forget there’s also a new Mazda BT-50, Nissan Navara and, of course, Mitsubishi Triton on the horizon.
Badged L200 in the UK market, the already launched new Mitsubishi double-cab currently has a claimed best-in-class power-to-weight figure compared with its rivals (including the outgoing Hilux) in that part of the world.
To find out whether the Triton lives up to this claim, UK-based publication Auto Express pit the new Mitsubishi up against a Volkswagen Amarok and (previous-generation) Toyota Hilux in a series of drag race tests.
