Koenigsegg is back at the Nürburgring, testing what it refer to as its “megacar”, the One:1.
The company made no secret about the fact that it would like to test at the ‘Ring, and more importantly, perhaps aim for a lap record, but when the authorities put speed limits in place following a racing accident, its plans stalled.
However, it is now clear that Koenigsegg is back, although we might not see a record attempt any time soon. Motor1.com reports that the company’s factory driver, Robert Serwanski, had the following to say about the possible attempt: “Will we gun for a record this year? Maybe. It depends on many, sometimes mundane, factors such as track access/availability, driver availability, the weather and other commitments that may pose a conflict in terms of timing”.
As a reminder, the One:1 is powered by a 5,0-litre, V8 biturbo engine developing 1 000 kW and 1 370 N.m.
Although neither Ferrari nor McLaren have released the lap times for their respective hypercars, the LaFerrari and the P1, the time to beat will be Porsche’s 6:57 set by its 918 Spyder back in 2013.
