This footage filmed at Monza shows the driver of a Ferrari FXX Evoluzione lose control of the rare track-only hypercar, slamming it violently into a tyre barrier.
While the person behind the camera didn’t manage to catch the very start of the incident, he did hit “record” early enough to capture the Enzo-based track car – which boasts 630 kW courtesy of its naturally aspirated V12 – sliding across the grass, losing a wheel and hitting the barrier nose-first.
According to the uploader of the video, the track was damp and the FXX Evo’s tyres weren’t quite up to their optimal operating temperature yet. So when the driver hit the anchors hard at the end of the straight, the wheels locked up and the vehicle started sliding. The driver reportedly walked away from the crash unharmed.
Here’s hoping Ferrari can salvage this piece of automotive history, considering that just 30 examples were built.
