Generally, one should avoid mixing electricity and water. But the owner of a Tesla Model S has proved that the electric car can indeed deal with heavy flooding.
Filmed in Kazakhstan, the video shows the electric vehicle – with its sealed batteries and electric motors – being driven through deep water, passing other vehicles stuck in a flooded tunnel.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk picked up on the story, and tweeted that the Model S “floats well enough to turn into a boat for short periods of time”.
He added that he is “still planning to do a sports sub car that can drive on roads”, before pointing out it is “just a side project” with “limited market potential”.
We *def* don’t recommended this, but Model S floats well enough to turn it into a boat for short periods of time. Thrust via wheel rotation.
