Ryan Hunter-Reay took victory over Helio Castroneves in the 2014 Indy 500 by just 0,060 sec in, would you believe, the second closest margin for victory in this famous race – Al Unser Jr. beat Scott Goodyear by 0,043 sec in 1992.
In taking the checkered flag Hunter-Reay became the first American to win the race since 2006. His average speed for the 500 mile (805 km) race was a shade over 300 km/h.
