Call it genius. Call it an abomination. Call it what you will, but there is something to be savoured about the lunacy that is shoehorning a powerful engine into an already-powerful car and lighting its tyres on a racetrack.
In this case, the car in question is a 1996 Subaru Impreza WRX STi that plays host to a 5,0-litre V10 engine lifted from a BMW M5. The result is a wholesomely tyre-smoking, exhaust-popping sideways feast that takes some getting used to – seriously, when was the last time you heard a noise that emanate from an Impreza?
What’s even more astounding is that the car in the video was on a test run and was not developing full power. Shares in the major tyre manufacturers probably would have gone through the roof if it was churning out all of its horses!
