A brief trawl of the web will dig up a few images of Ferrari Enzos folded into some heart-rending form of vehicular origami due to a track/slippery traffic circle mishap, but it’s not every day that you see a heavily-modified version of the Scuderia’s apex model being fished out of the drink – but that’s what happened at the recent Targa Newfoundland event…
The Edo Competition-modified Enzo, driven by its owner Zahir Rana – head of an exotic car import company in the states, appeared to hit some gravel coming off a sharp turn after exiting a bridge before slewing wildly from side to side and plopping into the Atlantic ocean in fairly spectacular fashion. Fortunately, Rana was unhurt and remained quite philosophical about the whole thing. The car, apart from being somewhat waterlogged and full of haddock, seems to have weathered its impromptu dip in the brine without too much damage and should be back in commission soon.
The crash is quite something, but perhaps the real highlight of the video is at around the 1-minute mark, where Rana’s instructor/navigator describes the act of dunking an exotic car worth the equivalent of several million Rands as a “boo-boo”…priceless.
