Fine people of the internet. If you have any sort of inclination towards the automobile (and/or YouTube), you would have heard of the Gymkhana series. Indeed, you’ve probably watched all nine, smoke-filled instalments.
But now hooner-in-chief Ken Block has released a teaser clip of a fresh series: Climbkhana.
Yes, the World RallyX driver has created a new film featuring his recently upgraded 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR V2 (now producing more than 1 000 kW, thanks to twin-turbos and many, many litres of methanol) doing its tyre-murdering thing up Pikes Peak. Yes, that Pikes Peak.
“Climbkana is the next generation of the Gymkhana series. I’ve long wanted to extend Gymkhana beyond the backdrops it has been living in,” said Block.
“As a rally driver, I have always wanted to mix what I do in the films with stage roads. During a race, I’m focused on being fast and clean through the road, but Climbkhana gives me an outlet to let it all hang out and run it sideways, plus add some additional obstacles along the way.
“And what better roads than hill climbs, which are essentially uphill stages? And what better hill climb to start with than the famous Pikes Peak?” he asked.
What better indeed, Kenneth. What better indeed.
The full film is expected to be released next year, but you can watch the teaser video above. You’re welcome.
