Well, that’s embarrassing. Mark Reuss, a high-ranking product development executive at General Motors, crashed the pace car at the Detroit IndyCar Grand Prix.
Reuss was behind the wheel of the Corvette ZR1 pace car when the rear slide out, slamming the vehicle into a barrier and delaying the race by around half an hour.
Chevrolet said that nobody was seriously injured in the crash, adding that “many factors contributed” to the incident, “including weather and track conditions”.
