Ever thought of using your Porsche 911’s launch control system to help you merge into traffic? Well, this cellphone footage from the US shows you exactly why that’s a bad idea (just in case you needed convincing).
The video was filmed outside a recent car meet in Bergen County, New Jersey. It shows the driver of a black 991.1-generation 911 preparing to merge onto a fairly busy multi-lane highway.
Look closely and you’ll see said driver fiddling with various settings, seemingly in an attempt to engage launch control.
Rather predictably, the launch doesn’t go as smoothly as he likely planned, with the rear-wheel-drive sportscar breaking traction and promptly sliding into a guardrail. Ouch.
