What can be done to improve the 2021 Nissan Patrol V8 LE Platinum City edition? Throw in an updated bold design, some race-proven engineering and aerodynamics, and this luxury SUV will turn heads.  Nissan recently unveiled the Nissan Patrol NISMO via a virtual event in the Middle East The willNISMO package will combine a striking exterior with the refinement of a luxury SUV, and the exhilarating performance of a sports car.

Following the growing demand for the NISMO brand in the region, Nissan listened to these desires and this Patrol is the latest iteration to join the NISMO brand following on the heels of the 370Z NISMO and the GT-R NISMO, offering a motorsport-inspired look and feel.

This forms part of the yearlong celebration that Nissan has lined up to celebrate 70 years of the legendary Patrol.

NISMO – where looks tell the story

Aggression and sportiness are at the forefront of the appearance of the Patrol NISMO. The NISMO emblem is slapped on the horizontal chrome lines, the rear bumper emphasizes the width of the car, new front lamps, and tail lamps, round it out with the signature NISMO red-line wrapping around the base of the car’s circumference. The imposing 22-inch, two-tone aluminum wheels sport the NISMO logo. To improve the racing handling, the tuned suspension of the Patrol NISMO features Bilstein Shock absorbers.

The balance between racing pedigree (the rear fog-lights are inspired by the Nissan Formula 1 car) and luxury meets perfectly on the inside. The spacious front seats, with Alcantara fabric and leather (the upholstery of choice for racing cars), helps drivers to get in the zone. This continues with the black Alcantara steering wheel with red carbon fibre inserts, and the NISMO logo adorning the headrests. The updated dashboard and center console rounds off the signature NISMO interior.

The Nissan NISMO has improved quietness in the cabin comes thanks to reduced frame vibration with improved AC for the second row to ensure all passengers travel in comfort.

Design is driven by function, so drivers can expect motorsport-inspired aerodynamics, excellent handling, and increased agility. The Takumi craftsmen, Nissan’s legendary team of four craftsmen allowed to hand-build the Nissan GT-R engine at their Yokohama plant got their hands on this engine too. It’s tuned to deliver 319 kW and 560 Nm, 21 kW more than the same engine in the local version of the Patrol.

A side duct Nissan added to the front bumper has the bonus of achieving zero lift force. With lighter wheels and a new roof spoiler boosting the improvement in aerodynamic force. There is also improved braking performance and the body structure enforcement allows for better handling.

No modern car would be complete without all the tech improvements that Nissan can throw at it to improve the driver’s peace of mind. This includes Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Smart Rear-View Mirror, and a High Beam Assist. It is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and includes wireless charging.
