VW Commercial Vehicles has launched a special-edition model in the UK, known as the Amarok Dark Label that debuted at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
Much like Toyota’s Hilux Black special edition, the changes are aesthetic.
The Amarok Black Label is based on the Comfortline trim and gets an Indium Grey matte exterior with a revised grille with lacquered chrome accents. Matte black mirrors, side bar and roll bar; black door handles and a black rear bumper complete the look. To add to its appeal, the bakkie is shod with 18-inch Rawson alloy wheels and some practical additions such as rain-sensing windscreen wipers; automatic headlight control; and power-adjustable, heated and folding door mirrors have been thrown in.
The interior also receives a black roof liner and special floor mats with embroidered Dark Label logos. The front seats come with manual lumbar support and the Amarok Dark Label is also fitted with a 6.33-inch touchscreen, which comes with Discover Media.
The Dark Label is fitted with Volkswagen’s V6 3.0TDI engine, which produces 150kW and 500Nm, (rather than the rather than the top-of-the-range 165 kW/550 Nm mill) mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive.
The Dark Label is priced from £33 650 (about R570 000), with production limited to around 200 units. Orders are open to those living in the UK and the first deliveries are scheduled to arrive in May this year.
