Audi introduces SQ8 with biturbo V8 diesel engine

Audi recently revealed the sportiest version of its new Q8 model, called the SQ8.

You might be expecting it to have a biturbo V8 petrol or a more powerful version of its turbocharged V6 petrol engine, but no.

Instead, Audi chose to go with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel from the SQ7. It also has a mild-hybrid system, which assists the turbochargers at low rpm.

The result is 310kW and 900Nm of torque. This huge amount of torque is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic.

You can easily tell the SQ8 apart from the lesser models thanks to quad exhaust pipes, Alcantara trim and embossed seats.

Audi says it can sprint to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 250km/h.

The SQ8 will arrive in South Africa in the first quarter of 2020.
