As we recently mentioned, a purported BMW insider is claiming that BMW will be launching an X2 in 2017. But the next BMW X-model we see might actually be an X7.
The X5 (pictured above) isn’t a small SUV, but by American standards it is downright tiny. It is certainly small compared to vehicles such as the Cadillac Escalade. And with Mercedes-Benz producing the GL-Class, Land Rover now making an extra-long Rangie and Bentley also getting ready to make a large luxury SUV, there is probably room for a bigger BMW X-model.
The company seems to think so, with German newspaper Handelsblatt claiming that BMW’s next SUV will in fact be the X7. Should it get made, it will be wider ad longer than the X5, and feature three rows of comfortable seating.
Interestingly, the X7 could also act as a great basis for the Rolls-Royce SUV, which the BMW-owned company apparently wants to build to compete with Bentley’s 4×4.
