Bollinger one step closer to world’s first electric bakkie

By: CAR magazine

It’s been a busy month for electric vehicles, following a host of all-electric and plug-in models introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, as well as the debut of the highly-anticipated Porsche Taycan.

But all has been quiet in the world of 4x4s. We had hoped that Rivian would arrive sooner rather than later, but not it seems Bollinger will likely get there first.

It recently introduced the Beta versions of the B1 SUV and B2 bakkie. These vehicles are essentially production ready, but these beta versions will likely be used for the final testing.

The Beta versions also feature a new dual-motor setup, which means the combined power output is 460kW and 920Nm of torque.

The claimed tow rating currently stands at 3400kg.

The B1 and B2’s off-road figures remain the same, however. Both still come as standard with a two-speed transfer case and 380mm of ground clearance.

At the moment, there’s no claimed range available.
