Citroen has revealed a C4 Cactus concept called the Airflow 2L.
This concept model is obviously based on the existing C4 Cactus, but some exterior changes have been made. There is a new bumper, a new rear spoiler and special low-rolling-resistance tires. The mirrors have also been replaced with cameras to reduce drag.
More importantly, though, it has a special three-cylinder engine that has a petrol powerplant and a compressed air energy storage unit. It also has a hydraulic pump and an automatic transmission with an epicyclic gear train. The powertrain can operates in three different modes: air only, petrol engine only and a combination of both.
Thanks to this engine set-up, the vehicle will apparently require a mere two litres of fuel per 100km.
You can watch a video reveal of the vehicle below. The Cactus Airflow will officially debut at the Paris Motor Show.
